How to Change A Flat Tire

You can usually count on a professional to change your tire, but there may be a time when you find yourself on the side of the road with a flat tire and need to change it yourself. Changing a tire has to be done correctly, so here are the steps you should follow.

1. Park in a Good Spot

You shouldn't change your tire on the grass or in the dirt and should avoid parking your car on a hill to change the tire.

2. Turn Off Your Vehicle

You need to ensure your vehicle is turned off and the emergency brake is on before you begin changing a tire.

3. Grab Your Tools

Take a look at your car's owner's manual and compile all of the necessary tools. Try to make yourself familiar with how to use the tools beforehand.

4. Loosen the Lug Nuts

Take out your lug wrench and loosen the lug nuts on the car's whee, but do not remove them yet.

5. Lift Up The Car

Again, consult your owner's manual for instructions on how to lift up your car and secure it with the correct jack.

6. Remove the Lug Nuts, Wheel, and Flat Tire

Remove the lug nuts completely with the lug wrench and proceed by removing the wheel and tire from the car.

7. Put on the Spare

Once the old tire is removed, put the spare in its place and secure the wheel and lug nuts back into place.

8. Lower the Car

Use the jack to lower the car back down to the ground with the new tire in place.
